Mold Release Agent Is An Interface Coating

Update:2022-02-22 00:00
Summary:

Mold Release Agent is an interfacial coating applied to the surfaces of two objects, making them easy to adhere to. Make the surface of the object easy to separate, smooth and clean. Release agents are widely used in metal die-casting, EVA products, rubber products, plastic products, silicone products, cement products, polyurethane foams, elastomers, glass fiber reinforced plastics, injection thermoplastics, vacuum foam sheets, plasticizers, etc. Extruded profile fillers can penetrate the interface, so a surface remover is required to remove them.

The specific working principle of the release agent is as follows:

1. The polar chemical bond interacts with the surface of the mold to form an adsorption film with regenerative power.

2. The silicon-oxygen bond in polysiloxane can be regarded as a weak dipole (Si+-O-). When the release agent diffuses unidirectionally on the surface of the mold, the molecule exhibits a unique extended chain structure.

3. The free surface is densely covered by alkyl groups, and the mold release ability increases with the increase of the alkyl group density, but when the alkyl group occupies a large steric hindrance, the stretching configuration is limited and the mold release ability decreases.

4. The molecular weight and viscosity of the release agent are also related to the release ability. When the molecular weight is small, the dispersibility is good, but the heat resistance is poor.
