Peg-12 Dimethicone Advantages And Scope Of Compatibility

Update:2022-05-13 00:00

Peg-12 Dimethicone is a linear polysiloxane product, the silicone oil is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and not easily volatile.

It is insoluble in water, methanol, glycol, and -ethoxyethanol, miscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride, or kerosene, and slightly soluble in acetone, dioxane, ethanol, and butanol. It has a small vapor pressure, high flash point and ignition point, and low freezing point. As the number of segments n is different, the molecular weight increases, and the viscosity also increases, so this silicone oil can have various viscosities.

It has heat resistance, electrical insulation, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiological inertness, and small surface tension, in addition to low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compression resistance, and some varieties also have radiation resistance properties.

The most commonly used silicone oil, all organic groups are methyl, called methyl silicone oil. The organic group can also use other organic groups to replace part of the methyl group to improve certain properties of the silicone oil and apply it to various uses. Common other groups are hydrogen, ethyl, phenyl, chlorophenyl, trifluoropropyl, and the like. In recent years, organo-modified silicone oil has developed rapidly, and many organo-modified silicone oils with special properties have appeared.

Silicone oil has many special properties, such as low temperature and viscosity coefficient, high and low-temperature resistance, anti-oxidation, high flash point, low volatility, good insulation, low surface tension, and no corrosion to metals, non-toxic, and so on. Because of these properties, silicone oils are excellent for many applications. Among various silicone oils, methyl silicone oil is the most widely used and is the most important variety in silicone oil, followed by methyl phenyl silicone oil. Various functional silicone oils and modified silicone oils are mainly used for special purposes.

Silicone oil has a very wide range of applications. It is not only used as a special material in aviation, cutting-edge technology, and military technology sectors but also in various sectors of the national economy. Its application scope has expanded to construction, electrical and electronic, textiles, automobiles, machinery, Leather and paper, chemical light industry, metal and paint, medicine and medical treatment, etc.
