The Functions of Polyether Modified Silicone Oil

Update:2023-04-23 15:12
Summary:
Polyether Modified Silicone Oil is a high-performance polyether modified silicone emulsion with unique water-soluble and surface-active properties. It has been widely used in the pulp and paper, agrochemicals, leather chemicals, fabric finishing and cosmetics industries.

Application:
The synthesis of polyether modified silicone emulsion is carried out by the crafts of emulsion polymerization with the use of active polyether, hydrogen-containing silicone oil, silane coupling agent and diethyl-amine. The structure, viscosity and hydrogen content of hydrogen-containing silicone oil, the structure and molecular weight of active polyether, the amount of emulsifier, the dosage of emulsifier initiator, the choice of catalyst, the dripping acceleration, the temperature and holding time affect the performance of emulsion polymerization.

Preparation: The emulsion softener was formulated by high-speed shear emulsification method with dimethicone( 1 000 mPa * s) as the main material, nonionic surfactant NP- 4 and Tween- 80 as emulsifier, and gelatin as stabilizer. The emulsion system was prepared at 35 °C, the shear speed was 11000 r/min and the shear time was 10 min.

Stability Test:
The stability of the synthesized emulsion was determined by the centrifugal stability test. The test results show that the emulsion is stable, with no layering, no oil bleaching and so on, when the 1231/1831 ratio reached 2.0/1.

Softening Treatment: The emulsion is diluted and used to treat the cotton fabric, and the result of softening is very good. In addition, the hydrophilicity and the smoothness of the treated fabric are improved.

The amino group-modified polyether silicone oil containing an ester group can achieve the effect of super smooth and hydrophilicity, and it is especially suitable for treating cotton fabric. In addition, it can be used as a dyeing agent to achieve high wrinkle resistance and super smooth feel.
