1. Core Properties and Main Applications
Liquid silicone rubber possesses excellent properties such as resistance to high and low temperatures, electrical insulation, strong weather resistance, and physiological inertness. It is widely used in fields including aerospace, medical care, electric power, maternal and infant products, and electronic and electrical engineering.
2. Adhesion Challenges and Application Limitations
Due to its special molecular structure, liquid silicone rubber has low polarity and low surface energy, making it difficult to bond firmly with materials such as metals, polycarbonate, and nylon directly. This limits the expansion of its application range.
3. Adhesion Improvement Methods
Currently, there are three common improvement solutions: substrate surface treatment, polysiloxane modification, and addition of tackifiers. Among them, the method of adding tackifiers achieves firm bonding with various substrates by introducing polar groups such as ester groups and vinyl groups. It is the most widely used method due to its simple operation, high efficiency, and low cost.
