Necessity of Modification and Performance Complementarity
- PC (Polycarbonate): It has excellent transparency, impact toughness and processability, and is widely used. However, its poor low-temperature toughness, insufficient flame retardancy, poor melt fluidity and low surface hardness restrict its application in high-end scenarios.
- Organic Polysiloxane: It has a low glass transition temperature, low-temperature flexibility and low surface energy, as well as excellent flame retardancy, high and low temperature resistance, aging resistance, transparency and dielectric properties. It forms an efficient complement to the performance of PC.
- Core Value: Through silicone modification technology, the defects of PC are targeted improved, its comprehensive performance is enhanced, and it helps to expand the boundary of its high-end applications. It has dual significance in both theoretical research and practical application.
Research Progress on Modification
Using silicone with terminal phenolic hydroxyl groups (PSi-bisphenols, terminal phenolic hydroxyl polysiloxane) as the raw material, copolymerization reactions were carried out respectively with chloroformate-terminated PC (CHOC), the composite system of phosgene and terminal phenolic hydroxyl diphenylpropane (DPP), chloroformate-terminated carbonate (BCHD/BCFD), and hydroxyl-terminated PC (0DOC). A new type of linear polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer was successfully synthesized; among them, the products prepared by some reaction systems exhibited higher molecular weight and more excellent mechanical properties.
