In hair care products, methyl silicone oil can fill in damaged hair cuticles, reduce friction between hair strands, make hair easy to comb, and impart shine. For example, silicone oil in conditioners can repair frizzy hair after perming or dyeing, while water-soluble silicone oil added to shampoos can enhance smoothness after cleansing. Additionally, its antistatic property helps reduce hair tangling, making it particularly suitable for use in dry environments.

In the field of color cosmetics, methyl silicone oil improves the dispersibility of powders, enhancing the fineness and coverage of foundations and pressed powders, while also strengthening the durability and water resistance of makeup. For instance, adding silicone oil to lipsticks can increase moisturization and color adhesion, while mascaras utilize its film-forming property to achieve curl and fixation.

In sunscreen products, methyl silicone oil acts as a film-forming agent, helping to evenly distribute sunscreens and form a water-resistant protective layer, thereby enhancing SPF values and extending protection time. Its low surface tension also optimizes the spreadability of sunscreen lotions, avoiding a heavy feel.

Silicone oils with different molecular weights meet specific needs: low-viscosity silicone oils (such as 0.65cSt) are suitable for antiperspirants or products requiring rapid drying due to their strong volatility; high-molecular-weight silicone oils (such as 600,000 viscosity) provide stronger lubrication and long-lasting moisturization, often used in high-end skin care creams.
