Silicone Stone Protective Agent

The silicone stone protective agent is a one-component product whose core ingredients include organosilanes, siloxane oligomers, special additives and composite environment-friendly organic solvents. It appears as a colorless and transparent liquid.
It can deeply penetrate into the capillary pores of stones to form a deep and long-lasting protective film — which not only avoids blocking the stone's air-permeable channels, but also endows the stone with strong hydrophobic properties. In particular, it can resist the erosion of water-based contaminants such as coffee, cola, soy sauce and tea, fundamentally preventing common stone damages like water spots, efflorescence and rust stains.
This protective agent can be classified in two main ways:
-
Classification by solvent typeIt can be divided into three categories:
- Water-based type: Using water as the sole diluent, it is odorless, low-toxic and non-flammable, featuring extremely high safety in use.
- Solvent-based type: Adopting solvents other than water as the dilution medium, it generally has a strong odor, relatively high toxicity and flammability with a density of less than 1. It can be further subdivided into two types: water-soluble (solvents completely miscible with water, e.g., alcohols) and oil-soluble (only miscible with oily substances but insoluble in water, e.g., benzenes, ketones and esters).
- Emulsion-based type: Also using water as the diluent, it is an emulsion product made by adding emulsifiers to oil-soluble protective agents and conducting high-speed stirring. It is milky white in appearance, mild in odor, non-flammable and relatively low-toxic.
-
Classification by mechanism of actionIt can be divided into two categories: film-forming type and penetrating type:
- Film-forming type: After application, it remains on the stone surface and forms a visible protective film. Common types include acrylic, silicone-acrylic and silicone resin-based agents, which are more suitable for the surface protection of non-polished stones.
- Penetrating type: Different from the film-forming type, its active ingredients fully penetrate into the stone interior through capillary pores without leaving any visible film on the surface, providing a more concealed and long-lasting protective effect.
